Supporting Communities of Practice with Gamification

I was invited to speak at the Association for Talent Development (ATD) Carolina Regional Conference on December 1. The week of the conference, I tested positive for COVID and could not travel. The benefit (minus some of the coughing in the video) was that I was able to record the session and have permission to share it.

The session describes some of the basic principles of communities of practice: domain, community, and practice. What I then provide is a formal link to considering principles of gamification for designing support systems for driving sustainable engagement within communities of practice. The session is guided by a practical job aid and a sample from the recent community of practice I developed with John Chen: Engaging Virtual Meetings Academy.
